My surgery date is on the calendar. May 11, 2022, I will be in my first surgery to remove the lipedema on the front of my legs. This is the first of multiple surgeries. Check out my linktree above for my Amazon Wish List. Since my diagnosis in June of 2021, I've researched the disease, conservative treatments, surgical procedures, and surgeons. There hasn't been a day or night that escaped my continued education, and yet, I'm always striving for more information. Am I scared? YES. Terrified. I'm terrified of the alternative, too. To do nothing is just as frightening as I watch my mobility disappear before my very eyes. #lipedema #lipedemaawareness #lipedemalipo #surgery #fatdisorder #mobility

I never, in a million years, thought I would be someone with a fat disorder. June 8, 2021, I was diagnosed with Lipedema. Since 2016, I’d been attempting to find out what was causing me to have such great discomfort and body changes. The diagnosis answered those questions as well as brought into focus the issues I have suffered for my entire adult life. It was wonderful and horrible to find out exactly what I was experiencing. I had a word. I had a definition. I had a meaning. I discovered that millions of women are undiagnosed, as doctors are rarely even taught about this disease. My diagnosis meant that I would need to step forward and speak up about my experience with the goal of spreading awareness of Lipedema. In less than 30 days, I will be undergoing my first major surgery for Lipedema. I have created a website and social accounts to document my journey. I will be sharing information here and at @lovingmylipedema and hope you will follow me there as well. The information you see may save your wife, sister, cousin, friend, or yourself. I hope you will lend me support as I share my life with the greatest vulnerability I wouldn’t wish upon anyone.
